Prince Harry will visit Governors Island on Saturday, May 30, to play in the second annual Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic. The event will kick off the Island’s public access season. Governors Island visitors are invited to watch the match, free of charge, on the Island’s sports fields, which feature the stunning backdrop of the Manhattan skyline.
Prince Harry will plat on the team captained by Nick Roldan, while Nacho Figueras, a world renowned Argentine polo player, will captain the opposing team, Black Watch.
Polo was often played on Governors Island between World Wars I and II, and we have heard from some former residents of the Island that a few matches also took place during the Coast Guard era on the Island. The Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic is a wonderful opportunity to bring back this historic use of the Island.

Hundreds of Governors Island visitors enjoyed last year's Veuve Clicquot Manhattan Polo Classic which brough polo back to the Island for the first time in decades.

Hello,
Any information on how members of the public can attend will be helpful. I know that it is open to the public for free, but some details on how we can go about this would be great.
Thanks,
M.
What time does the polo match start?
Hi,
I lived on the Island from 1971-1977 and during that time I remember a polo match being played.
