It’s that time of year again! From 7am to 1pm for the next three Saturdays, The New York City Department of Transportation is transforming 7-miles of city streets into a car-free playground called Summer Streets (our personal favorite is riding over and through the Grand Central Station viaduct). In the tradition of The Bronx River Parkway’s Bicycle Sundays , cyclists and pedestrians can frolic freely from Central Park to the Brooklyn Bridge from 7am-1pm. And when the streets are re-opened to cars, keep the car-free party rolling on Governors Island!
Last year, we blogged about our big car-free bike ride that joined Summer Streets with Governors Island. This year the NYC DOT has a great map to guide you. And if you need help getting to Summer Streets, check out Transportation Alternative’s Feeder Rides.
