Nina QuattrocchiWe on Governors Island wanted to wish everyone Happy Holidays and send our best wishes for a wonderful New Year.
The picture that you see below is of a postcard that we found that was printed during World War I. The postcard features images of Governors Island, including Castle Williams, and sends the recipient “Christmas Greetings from New York City.” The selection of Castle Williams was likely a nod to the role that the Island played during the war.
We hope that everyone has a joyous holiday season and we look forward to welcoming the public back to the Island in June of 2010.
