Every summer, The Trust opens up Governors Island for  inventive programming and delicious food. The combination of great events, a variety of food, and a beautiful park entices visitors to the Island. Last season we had an average of 20,000 visitors every weekend!

This year, the Trust is excited to open over 200,000 square feet of indoor space in our historic buildings for programming, and the Colonels Row Festival Grounds and Nolan Park for outdoor programming. We are also looking for food vendors to submit applications for season long permits or single weekend permits.

We are thrilled to welcome you to our seven day a week expanded access season!

We love food on Governors Island and the 20,000 visitors we had on average every weekend last season do to! As a vendor you can apply for a permit to sell for a single weekend or for the whole season.

If you would like to apply for a single weekend permit look here.

To submit a proposal for a full season licence please look at our Food Permit RFP

Remember to pass on the information to your favorite food vendor and food truck!

  1. AH YES, GOVERNOR’S ISLAND IS GETTING CLOSER… WELL IT’S NOT ACTUALLY MOVING… BUT IT ‘S A GOOD FEELING. LAST YEAR WAS TERRIFIC.

REMEMBERING THE ISLAND TAKES ME BACK TO MY TEENAGE YEARS, 1960s AND BEYOND WHEN MOM AND DAD WERE ARMY OFFICERS STATIONED ON THE ISLAND, WHAT A GREAT PLACE GOVERNOR’S ISLAND WAS TO LIVE!

SO THESE SUMMER “INTERLUDES” ARE VERY WELCOME. LOOKING FORWARD TO IT! SUMMER ALWAYS BRINGS BACK MY YOUTH. ESPECIALLY GREAT MEMORIES FROM LT.COL WILLIAM J. SMITH II (Dad) AND 2ND.ARMY NURSE MARGARET T. SMITH (Mom). THEY LOVED GOVERNOR’S ISLAND TOO. Thank you, Bill Smith, retired Los Angeles radio/tv/news reporter.
