Meet Girls On Governor’s Island? Why singles are flocking to find each other.

+1 Pin It Share

Governor’s Island is a small island located within the East River in New York City, which is only accessible by ferry from lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. It’s an incredible venue for an afternoon of outdoor activities such as picnicking or barbecuing with your friends, and on of the best ways to find a local fuck in your city followed by some light jogging on the grassy field.

If you’re looking for something more intimate, you can always make use of one of its many trails, beaches, and hidden nooks that allow couples to go off the grid. You can rent bicycles to explore the entire island and see what it has to offer if you don’t feel like walking everywhere.

The best part about Governor’s Island is that there aren’t many people around. There are no cars allowed on this island, so any car sounds will be drowned out by the ocean breeze and cicadas chirping. If you’re looking to meet girls for sex or for a romantic date, of course, there are plenty dating sites and sex classifieds, but getting out in person and meeting women face-to-face still works wonders, and this is one of the best places to do it.

How To Meet Girls Governor’s Island

There’s nothing better than getting away from the city noise when you want to enjoy some peace and quiet with someone special. But a weekend getaway won’t be complete without at least a little romance. Here are a few tips to help you navigate through the sweltering summer heat and find your soulmate.

1. Rent A Bike

Cycling around the island is the perfect way to burn calories while getting some fresh air. The views are stunning, and there’s plenty to discover along the way. When you think Governor’s Island, you probably don’t picture the most romantic place in New York City, but it has everything you need to relax and unwind.

2. Go For A Picnic

A picnic at the beach is the ultimate expression of love. Grab some sandwiches from a deli or bakery, pack some drinks, and head down to the water. You’ll be amazed by how much fun you have lying on the beach sunbathing, swimming in the cool waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and just relaxing outdoors with your significant other.

3. Take A Hike

Check out the entire island and see what it has to offer. Venture into the woods and see if you can spot the local wildlife. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of some deer roaming around. Don’t forget to bring a camera to snap some pictures of the beautiful scenery!

4. Check Out The Beach

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to check out the beach. If you haven’t been to Governor’s Island before, then it’s worth checking out. The beach is open all year round, so it’s never too late to grab a towel and some sunscreen and spend a day in the sun.

5. Have Some Fun In The Sun

As the name suggests, Governor’s Island is a great place to take a dip in the sun and get a nice tan. As long as you keep yourself hydrated, you should have no problem staying healthy and having fun outdoors. Bring a book or two and read by the pool with your significant other. Enjoy a cold drink and some snacks by the water, and have the time of your life.

6. Head Over To The Top Deck Bar

If you’re not afraid of heights, then you can sit on top of the ferries and enjoy a nightcap with your partner. You’ll feel like you’re floating over New York Harbor. You’ll see the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the Freedom Tower up close, as well as many other attractions.

7. Visit The Museum Of Arts And Design

This museum is open all day every day, so you can stop by anytime you want and check out the amazing exhibits inside. You don’t have to pay to get inside, and the price is right. This is an excellent place to visit if you’re looking for a romantic date idea for couples who are looking to spice things up with a bit of culture.

Designing a New Park

+1 Pin It Share

s part of our continuing work to bring Governors Island back to life, The Trust for Governors Island is designing a new 40-acre park south of Division Road and a 2.2 mile Great Promenade along the waterfront.

We will also be restoring the landscapes in the Historic District. The new park will take advantage of the South Island’s spectacular views and be built on land now closed to the public where non-descript barracks and parking lots stand.

The design will not alter the character of the beautiful Historic District you see today.

The acclaimed Dutch urban design and landscape architecture firm, West 8 and a team of designers have been chosen to design these new public open spaces.

Let us know what you think of the Park and Public Space Master Plan. You can view the entire plan at www.govislandpark.com.

About Us

About Governors Island:

Governors Island, in the heart of New York Harbor, is only 800 yards from Lower Manhattan, and even closer to Brooklyn. The entire 92 acre National Historic District is open to the public for picnics, tours, concerts, car-free biking, and more.

For almost two centuries, Governors Island was home to the US Army and later the Coast Guard.

The Coast Guard closed the Island a decade ago, and in 2003 the land was transferred to the State and City of New York for one dollar.

Twenty-two acres of the Island, including two 1812-era forts, was declared a National Monument, which is overseen by the National Park Service. The other 150 acres are overseen by The Trust for Governors Island.

Governors Island will be the site of future educational, non-profit and commercial facilities, as well as world-class open space. An acclaimed team, led by West 8, has been chosen to design the new Governors Island Park and Great Promenade.

Governors Island is an incredible resource for all New Yorkers and visitors.

About Us:

The Trust for Governors Island is the non-profit corporation created by the City of New York that is responsible for the planning, redevelopment, and ongoing operations of 150 acres of Governors Island.

The Trust’s mission is to bring Governors Island back to life, making this island at the center of New York Harbor a destination with great public open space, as well as educational, not for profit and commercial facilities.

The Trust for Governors Island is the successor entity to the Governors Island Preservation and Education Corporation. For more information, visit www.govisland.com.

Help Name Our Kitty!

We have received many calls and emails about the cat that found her way to Governors Island over the weekend.

The cat is doing great and is making herself at home around the office and the Island.

We realize that this cat needs a name!

We remembered that one of the most popular areas of the Island, Picnic Point, was named by one of our blog readers, so we are again turning to all of you for your ideas.

Give us your suggestions for her name!

Spiderman Returns to Governors Island on Sunday

+1 Pin It Share

Fred Van Lente, author of The Amazing Spiderman, will be on Governors Island this Sunday at 1:30 PM to talk to visitors about how he set two issues of the iconic series on the Island.

In each story, Spiderman battles the Sandman around some of the island’s most notable landmarks and areas, including Castle Williams, Fort Jay, the historic district, and even the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel vent shaft (which is how the evil Sandman accesses Governors Island).

Even the old  Burger King on the southern end of the Island makes an appearance in the story.

Van Lente will take your questions about Spidey, how comics are made, and anything you might want to ask, so be sure to stop by the Commanding Officers House on Sunday to hear about Spiderman’s adventures on the Island.

Island Update: Hurricane Sandy

+1 Pin It Share

We have received so many well wishes and questions from everyone about how Governors Island fared during the storm that we wanted to post a quick update.

Our preliminary inspection of the Island shows that the Historic District, including all landmarked buildings and the Governors Island National Monument, as well as the park construction site, do not appear to have suffered any lasting damage from the storm.

That said, the Island has lost a small handful of trees and there is considerable debris around the Island, including tree branches and other material that washed ashore during the storm.

There is also some fencing that needs to be repaired.

Currently, the Island is not open for operations because it does not yet have power.

The Trust for Governors Island team, together with Turner construction and HMS Global (which runs the Island’s ferry), are working together on the Island’s clean up.

We are also working with all appropriate agencies to return the Island to full operations and to resume construction as quickly and safely as possible.

Keeping up with Construction on Governors Island

We know you can’t see us out here in the middle of the Harbor in the winter, but we don’t want you to miss out on all the action.

So we’ve added two fun new ways to peer over our construction fences. We’re snapping shots on Instagram, so follow us at governors island (if you didn’t just delete your account this week).

And we’ve started a neat slideshow on dropbox that shows construction progress in a series of before and after shots with renderings. It changes every week, so be sure to keep checking in.

And as always, can follow us on Facebook, or Twitter, or this blog, where we post a “Field Report” every Tuesday. Stay tuned!

Sample Page

This is an example page. It’s different from a blog post because it will stay in one place and will show up in your site navigation (in most themes). Most people start with an About page that introduces them to potential site visitors. It might say something like this:

Hi there! I’m a bike messenger by day, aspiring actor by night, and this is my website. I live in Los Angeles, have a great dog named Jack, and I like piña coladas. (And gettin’ caught in the rain.)

…or something like this:

The XYZ Doohickey Company was founded in 1971, and has been providing quality doohickeys to the public ever since. Located in Gotham City, XYZ employs over 2,000 people and does all kinds of awesome things for the Gotham community.
